Nosebleed, or epistaxis, is a common condition that involves bleeding from the blood vessels in the nose. It can result from trauma, dry air, or underlying health conditions.
First aid for a nosebleed involves having the casualty sit upright and lean forward slightly to prevent blood from flowing down the throat. The casualty should pinch the soft part of the nose just below the bony bridge for about 10 to 20 minutes.
Applying a cold compress to the back of the neck can also help. If the bleeding persists beyond 20 minutes or recurs frequently, medical evaluation is necessary to rule out more serious conditions.
A nosebleed, or epistaxis, is a common occurrence caused by the rupture of small blood vessels inside the nose. It can result from trauma, dry air, or medical conditions.
